The Client
A South-Korean battery giant expanding its 12 GWh cylindrical-cell line in Hefei. Required a plant manager who could ramp from 0 → 4 GWh in Year 1 while meeting automotive PPAP and IATF 16949.
The Challenge
• Technical: 8+ years in high-speed winding & laser-welding lines (>300 PPM).
• Safety: zero-accident culture under Chinese GB/T 45001.
• Language: Korean or English for HQ reporting, Chinese for union & local gov.
Our Approach
• Talent pool came from CATL, LG Energy Solution, Samsung SDI, EVE.
• Added Korean-speaking filter (TOPIK 4+) to satisfy weekly HQ calls.
• Ran psychometric safety-leadership test; shortlisted 3 candidates.
Outcome
Offer:$220 k base + stock options. Candidate passed Korean HQ board interview in Seoul, relocated to Hefei within 30 days. Plant hit 95 % OEE in Month 5 and received Ford Q1 certification six months ahead of plan.
